Doomsday has arrived [02 Nov 2004|03:16am]

For those of you who havn't heard a texas based company is claiming that they hold a patient from 1988 on all 3D images to monitor graphics... What does that mean for us? First off, No World of Warcraft if they win. Why stop there?!?! 3D video games as we know it will cease to exist! I have a feeling that this company is going to get on some hackers hit list like SCO did. Lets just hope this suit never makes it to court.

Subject: Closed Beta Coming to an End

If you are receiving this email, you are one of the valued testers currently in World of Warcraft’s closed beta test. This message is to inform you that the beta servers will be coming down at 3:00 PM PDT on Friday, October 29 and will remain offline for a few days in preparation for another stress test. Your account and characters will be active for this stress test, but a new client download will be required. After the game servers come down on Friday the 29th, you will be able to log in to the community site and download the new client.

Once the beta-server preparations are complete, we will announce the start of the stress test, and the servers will come back online. When that happens, you will be able to log back in, download a quick patch, and then continue playing. Please keep an eye on WorldofWarcraft.com for more information about the stress test in the days ahead!

We want to take this opportunity to thank you for all the hard work you’ve been putting in to make World of Warcraft a better game. You’ve done a great job, and without you, the classes would not be where they are today, places like the Barrens would not be as rich as they are today, and the changes implemented from your suggestions would never have taken place.

We hope you've been enjoying your exclusive look at World of Warcraft these past few weeks and months, and we hope you'll take some satisfaction in knowing that you’ve played a big part in shaping its destiny. We'll see you again online soon!

VanCleef [28 Jul 2004|07:23pm]

After several tries and many more deaths I've finally finished the 'elite' VanCleef quest. The VanCleef quest is the end of the 'BrotherHood of Defias' quests. I recieved it at around lvl 18 but didn't finish till lvl 22! Its a very tough quest so NEVER go in alone.... and I don't recommend any group under the maximum aloud of 5 lol.

Here's the story....

At lvl 18 I recieve the VanCleef quests and having solo'd the last part of the quest I decided to go in alone. I was underneath MoonBrook in Westfall when I met my first enemy leading the way to the instanced area..... couldn't touch him. I tried several times over to get into a group who would take a lvl 18 through the quests but to no avail. I now know that anyone under 20 will just get in the way. There may be a couple spoilers ahead but I won't be giving away any story or anything but I may mention some things to watch out for so you can survive and then maybe some items you may want to pick up.

Trail number 1:
I join a group with 2 mages 2 Paladins (including me) and a warlock. Everyone was around lvl 20 to 24. Slowly but surely we fight our way through the caves to the pirate ship. Luckyly one of the members knew the kinks of the instance so informed the group on what to do. The battles were tough and long... several people died but with warlocks' soulstones and the two paladins with resurect kept our group intact. When we finally reached VanCleef we finished him off first and one by one fell to his gaurds. I alone survive and begin to resurect out party members untill we eventualy killed off the guards..... then the unthinkable happened. His corpse decayed before we looted it!! Lesson #1 loot his body as soon as he drops. Nearly 3 hours down the drain.

Trail number 2:
One of the same mages from the last group and I met up the following day and started another VanCleef group. This time we had 2 Paladins, 1 Mages, a priest and a rogue. We were Blazing through it. It seemed as if we could get the entire instance in under 2 hours. About an hour into the instance we made a fatal mistake. Miscommunication. Three members knew about a patrol that would be coming out way and decided to sit and wait for them. The tanks however did not. While the 2 tanks were fighting 5 high lvls with no support, the 'support' was yelling something liek 'you idiots'. About that time the patrol came by and overwhelmed us and the mission was over. Lesson #2 every time you open a pair of large doors in VanCleef watch behind you in case there is a patrol. 1 hour down the drain.

Trail number 3:
In desparation to finish the quest I decided to hang out around moonbrook looking for a new group. While i was waiting I helped a few lower lvls finish some quests when a group of 3 Paladins invited me to a group. Whatever, I accepted. It turns out they were on their way to Vanleef.... 4 Paladins. I was hesistant but what the heck, might as well try. On our way into the instance we recruited another Paladin making a full group of Pallys lvl 20-23. BAM! I was so supprised how well we did. I don't believe we stoped more than a few second except for the the one bathroom break we all needed lol. We finished the entire thing in just over 1 hour which is amazing time for that quest. There is nothing like having 5 tanks, 5 healers and everyone with resurect in your party. Even though we had resurect there were only 3 deaths the entire time in which 2 were at VanCleef himself. Lesson #3 Never underestimate 5 Pallys with maces!

Just for your information... if any paladins go through there you may want to watch out for a couple of bind on loot maces that drop in the pirate ship. One of them drops from the BIG hairy black guy guarding the entrance, you'll know who I'm talking about when you see him. Thats a 2 handed mace doing around 12.6dps I believe. The other drops off the cook on the bottom lvl. He looks like a murlock and drops a one of the rollers you use to flatten dough. Its a 1 handed mace and does around 8.3-8.9dps.

Good times

Usually auctioning happening in chat. You type /2 and you already typing in trade chat. But now Blizz implemented auction houses as they call it. Basically you put your item like on eBay, but here it's more pointless now, becuase the only audience is attracted to auction is higher level chars that are willing to sell, not to buy. ... Just some insights.

About talent points. They're undoable so far. So I really messed up my orc warrior MARDUK by choosing something random the day they implemented talents in the game. So that's why I started new Human Pally Kot that is 24 lvl now, which is pretty good. That's when the game start to be even more fun.

New batch of screens is on the way.

Impressions [17 Jul 2004|12:48am]

So, I wasn't one of the lucky few to get into any of the first 3 stages of Beta..... but that doesnn't mean I can't play! Thanks to a friend I've been able to put enough hours into WOW to nearly achieve a Lvl 20 human Paladin (I'm about 20 minutes from actualy lvling to 20). Let me tell you guys that for those of you who will be purchasing the retail game be sure to quit your jobs and cancel school because you will be hooked!

Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of problems with the game right now. For instance there is overcrowding in StormWind, the main human city, a few graphics errors and even missing content. In fact the Talents have only been activated for two classes so far. Even with all of these problems which are normally associated with beta tests this game is extremely fun and addicting. Most of these glitches should be ironed out by retail and we can expect a finely tuned great game worthy to be on Blizzards Finished Lists.

Some new information which may not have reached the ears of those not on the beta involves these new 'talents'. I'm only experiance with the talents available to a lvl 1-18 mage but I will give you what I know. Think of Talents like the Diablo style skills. Every so often you will earn a talent point and you can put them into any available 'tree'. The Mage has three separate trees dealing with Arcane, Ice, and fire magic. Each item in the tree will give the character a special ability like 'Faster casting rate' or 'increase fire damage'. Some abilities are non-passive like a fire spray type of spell that you could not purchase from a mage trainer. These skills will mostly be passive but will change your scared little voidwalker into an uber god of fire.

P.S. Look for me in the PvP server under the name of LittleJohn. I'm spending quite a bit of time in Lakeshire, Westfall and occationally Stormwind.

Beta 3 [27 Jun 2004|07:13pm]

I finally had a chance to play the World of WarCraft (Beta III) and I'm impressed so far. I don't like to give impressions to early so I won't go into much detail but the enviroment looks like a PC rpg and not a MMORPG. What I mean by that is basically it has character, details, variety. Most MMORPGS seem sort of 'cookie cutter' depending on which zone/area you are in. I havn't really been able to play much becuase I'm not a beta tester but its good to have a good choice of friends ;-)

By the way, Open Beta is scheduled next so hopefully some next month (early I hope) they can have the open beta off and get it released sometime early to mid-Autgust.

A quick update! +0) [08 May 2004|02:56am]

besides wow: Check out my new site www.genesm.com

Lag. I got healing magic going for a minute or so while running around =).

Some more.

Coming to Auderbine.

Some dancing in the forest. Just a nice perspective I thought.

Coming to Dwarf's land.

Inside Dwarfes castle. It's all about mining and things such.

Flying through orcs lands. Recognize w3 towers? =)

Laggin some more...

Laggin in the water also. That's much fun.

Warlocks place. They always seem to be underground in some gloomy rooms. I had to go about 3-4 floors down to find them.

Just a bank.

Westfall shot.

While in horde lands in the forest.

This is NightElf's land. But it's secluded. You have to go through horde lands to reach it.

Bat resting...
